Types of PCBs
It is the simplest PCB having only a single layer of the base substrate, fiberglass, and a conductive layer that is usually a layer of copper. It is often called the single-sided/one-sided or single-layer PCB and is the cheapest type of PCB. A double-sided PCB is a popular type of PCB that is comparatively more complex than a single-sided PCB. Here, the single layer of the base substrate is surrounded by a conductive layer of copper on each side. A multilayer PCB, on the other hand, contains multiple layers but a minimum of three layers.
